Reflections on Resets

As we prepare for August and a new monthly theme, we’re taking a moment to pause and reset. It’s the time of year where we begin thinking about preparing to transition from one season to another and therefore, the ways we spend our time are likely to shift as well.

Sending gratitude

We thank you for spending time considering all the different ways resets affect our lives. We are grateful to Christy Witkowski for courageously sharing her experiences with resets. We appreciate you responding to the invitation to rethink the word citizen and what this means we can do as individuals and as part of small and large groups that contribute to the whole.

As you look back on this month’s topics— we hope it has provided you a chance to appreciate how you have navigated resets. In addition, we ask that you consider how resets happen in a number of ways. We have had the chance this week to witness Olympic athletes reset in a variety of ways-- paying attention to what they need and making adjustments.

We never know when the way we reset may provide guidance to others. The flip side of that, is when we don’t reset when it is needed-- we often learn lessons from that as well.

To all who courageously reset or share the ways they reset with others-- we thank you for showing us the many ways we can shift and continue paths to lives well occupied.

Occupational Therapy Doctorate Students, Kim Frederickson and Marcie Israelson, offer some closing reflective questions on reset for this month:
