An invitation to notice
Good morning, readers. It’s Saturday morning here in Minnesota, which means it is time for reflections. You’ll notice the reflections posts will mostly be brief as it is a time for us all to pause and reflect on the week thus far. Today there are a few more things to say as we begin the routine of weekly reflections. If you wish to skip straight to the reflective questions— scroll to the section that begins with Today we invite you.
This week on the blog, we began by talking about the monthly theme of reset and we heard part 1 of a two-part interview of recent OTA graduate and student of Solidago, Christy Witkowski. She shared stories of what resets have meant in her life and reminded us of how having someone remind her that all feelings are valid and acceptable offered her the validation that helped her to accept and express a range of emotions. This validation, that all feelings are valid, by a trusted source can help us get unstuck and move onward— however that may be, instead of getting stuck in trying to avoid feeling certain ways.
Christy’s experience also gives us the chance to reflect on who the people are around us who have helped us through resets in life or gave us the nudge we needed to realize one was in order. We hear her reflect on how the perspective of those who know and love us best might help us figure out our next steps.
Today we invite you to notice— you might…
step outside and notice how nature resets— what are the routines of the birds, the plants, the sun?
look for examples of how people reset when they realize there might be a more effective way to do things; how does that affect others around them?
watch the Olympics or other activities to notice how people use resets (US gymnasts, Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles model the way)— for more on that example, follow the link below:
Wherever you are today— you’ve earned a moment to reflect on the week and decide how you might reset today and help someone else to reset as well.
Wishing you a fruitful day of reflecting and sending my deepest gratitude for your interaction with the blog this week,
Kary
